Corn germ accounts for 8-10% of the total weight of corn kernels and is the main raw material for the production of corn oil. It is also one of the important ingredients in animal feed. The oil content of corn germ is 30-48%, almost twice that of soybeans. For small and medium-sized corn oil production plants, we provide mechanical screw pressing. For large corn germ oil production plants, pre-pressing and solvent extraction are recommended.

The production process of corn oil usually starts with pressing. After pressing, the remaining oil cake will be subjected to solvent extraction using hexane or isohexane. After the solvent extraction step, the solvent used in the extraction process will be recovered by evaporation for subsequent reuse. The crude corn oil obtained after solvent extraction will be transported to the refinery for further processing. The oil refinery will carry out a series of processes such as degumming and deacidification, decolorization, deodorization, and dewaxing in sequence, and finally successfully produce high-quality edible corn germ oil.
The corn germ oil production line is designed for large corn oil processing plant. The pressed cake is mechanically pressed and then transported to the solvent extraction unit. Hexane is usually used as a solvent to fully extract the remaining oil in the cake. During the extraction process, the solvent dissolves the oil to form a mixture of oil and solvent, i.e., mixed oil. The oil-rich mixed oil is then desolventized by evaporating the solvent, and the evaporated solvent can be recycled and reused to finally obtain crude corn oil. It is worth mentioning that the production process of corn germ oil is similar to that of rice bran oil production line. The corn oil extraction unit not only has a considerable output, but also has high extraction efficiency and short extraction time. The obtained crude oil has low impurity content, light color and excellent overall quality.
